  5. I was looking for an English translation of "La nuit je mens" to illustrate a video. This is how I ended up on your blog.

    You're doing an amazing job!

I come from France and am living in Canada. When it came to pick a song to conclude a project I made for family and friends, I remembered "La nuit je mens". Dad loves Bashung's music and I thought it was the best choice.

My English is so-so. It was better to find a "real" translation and yours is great.

Thank you for sharing Bashung's music! Thank you for letting people discover good music!

  6. Fantastic idea and site!! I have been looking for an english translation of Bashung for awhile to introduce his songs to friends and family (I live in Australia) and I am so glad to have found your site!! Keep up the good work! :)
P.S: There is a pun with a line or two in 'La Nuit Je Mens': 'Histoire d'eau sounds like 'Histoire d'Ô' which is kind of innuendo-ish (ahem), and 'Je fais le mort' means 'I played dead' (as in a dog, for example).
Love your work, Laura, and thank you again!

  9. Thanks so much for your translations. My French is rusty (haven't been back since 1981) but I love Bashung! Now even moreso. I checked out some of your poetry, and will return. Quite impressed!
